This is something a little more personal from me, but I wanted to share it with you all as I had such an amazing day!
My day started off with a surprise bouquet of flowers, which is an absolutely HUGE deal because it’s the first one Jon’s bought me in the year we’ve been together! I also got a gorgeous sparkly card as he clearly knows, anything sparkly always goes down well with me.
First up we had breakfast at Bill’s. We received a complimentary glass of Buck’s Fizz each and tucked into blueberry pancakes for me, and a full English for him.
As regular breakfast goers, I can honestly say these were the best pancakes I’ve had. We usually go to the Breakfast Club, but I would actually go so far as to say I prefer Bill’s, not that Jon would agree (for him you can’t beat a Breakfast Club Full Monty fry up). After I finished my pancakes I wanted to eat them all over again – but don’t worry, I refrained!
After, we came back and let our food go down following a quick trip to Asda to check out their Halloween range (how romantic) which, by the way, is amazing! This gave us a little time to chill out together before it was time to get ready again for the second part of our Anniversary celebrations.
For our evening meal out I went really simple wearing a red Topshop dress and my favourite Kurt Geiger strappy heel. This was actually not the outfit I had planned, but when I came to put on the skirt and top combo I had originally planned, I decided against it. Also, not knowing where we were going made it all the more difficult to know what to wear!
Once ready, we had a quick tipple of Moët then it was time to head out.
The restaurant turned out to be Piccolino in Mayfair which was recommended by Jon’s Italian work colleague, after I said I wanted an Italian for our Anniversary a while back. The food was amazing and we were also surprised by ANOTHER free drink! It was also on a beautiful street that was lit by tiny white lights. Disappointedly, after one too many glasses of rose, I completely forgot to take a picture.
All in all I think I ate about 6000 calories yesterday, enjoyed some good wine and some even better free drinks and company (why does stuff always taste better when it’s free?!). It really was the perfect way to celebrate our 1 year mark, without all the excess of buying each other ridiculously expensive presents – I did however, buy him a couple of private joke presents which were gratefully received!
