The weather is finally turning and for some reason, I’m actually excited about it. This might be because Autumn/Winter product is now dropping into our favourite high street stores, and what’s more, a whole host of B-E-A-utiful coats are here for us to feast our eyes upon.
However, before you go and make an impulse purchase, check out my round up of all things hot this season.
1.The Wool Coat
Zara seemed to dominate last season with their coats and no doubt they’re hoping to do the same again for A/W.
This nude fur trimmed wool coat instantly caught my eye, not only for its girly fur details, but also due its the simplicity and those oversized pockets!
For a completely different, somewhat boyish alternative, River Island are offering an amazing textured wool coat in the shade of the season, berry. Usually I wouldn’t go for something this oversized however, I can actually see myself wearing this with a pair of strappy sandals and a mini black handbag to finish off the look.
2. The Fur Coat
You may have seen in this month’s ELLE, 7th September marked the occasion for Whistles’ £295 Acrylic all over faux fur coat arriving in stores. This is an absolutely beautiful shawl collared option that will definitely keep you cosy this Winter. It also comes in a range of colours from mink to light blue or even black. However, before you dash to the shops, Miss Selfridge have also given us their take on the full length faux fur must have for the season, and at just £99, we can achieve the look of Whistles’ high end £295 Kumiko high street number at a fraction of the price. Hooray for my bank balance!!
Alternatively, fur this season is going colour crazy with fun colour blocking and pattern used all over a wide range of coats and accessories. For the not so daring amongst us, stick to monochrome like this ASOS striped fur coat.
By now, most people already have owned or do own a PU jacket (that’s faux leather to you to and me). However, PU has a new move on for this A/W. Fur! Expect to see fur trims a plenty in and around the high street. My personal favourite is this burgundy beauty from Dorothy Perkins.
That’s all for this week.
One last piece of advice is to try and pin point a style of coat before you head out, as this season’s coats are coming in all shapes and sizes; wrap, oversized, boyfriend, fit and flare, single breasted, double breasted, longer line, midi, cropped… you get the point. If you have a slight clue what style you want, hopefully that will limit the time spent trawling round the shops. My other piece of advice, as this has happened too many times to me, is; if you like it, buy it. You will regret it if you don’t!
